Do I even need to review this book? Well, regardless, one of the best I've read, so here it is.The closest to a classic as a moderately new book can get, My Sister's Keeper tells the story of the Fitzgeralds, Sara and Brian, and their three children, Jesse, Kate, and Anna.
After Sara and Brian had Jesse and Kate, they figured they had the perfect family: Kate was the spitting image of her father, Jesse had the traits of his mother. One darling baby girl, one handsome baby boy. What more could they want?
This all changed when Kate was diagnosed with leukemia.
The doctors threw ideas at the Fitzgeralds, all of which had potential of keeping their only daughter alive, but were potentially harmful and known to fail. This was until they were offered a new idea: have a designer baby to fit Kate's needs.
Soon enough, Sara was pregnant with Anna, who would grow up donating organs and blood, all to please her parents and keep Kate alive. Though this is the only life she's ever known, young Anna yearns for freedom and the rights to her own body, leading her to sue the people who raised her.
A love-filled, often humorous, other times saddening book, My Sister's Keeper will have you refusing to set it down.
